    We have a winner!

    Two ways to make teams

Fastest: paste everyone's names into the Entries box, open Split into teams, choose the number of teams and press Make teams. Everyone is shuffled and dealt into balanced teams.

More fun: load the Team picker preset, then have each person spin to find out which team they join. Turn on Remove winner if each team has a fixed number of places by listing each team once per spot.

    Fair teams, no arguments

Random teams remove captain-picking awkwardness and stop the same friends always grouping together. Because the shuffle uses a secure random generator, nobody can game it.

    Use it anywhere

Coaches use it on a phone at the field, teachers on the smart board, and remote teams in a video call with screen sharing. Share the wheel link so others can check or re-run the draw.

    Private by design

Fair Wheel Picker is a static web page. The wheel, the random pick, the sound and the confetti all run in your browser. There is no account, no database and no upload. Your entries and history are stored in your browser's local storage so they are still there next time, and you can wipe them at any time by clearing the entries and history.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my entries uploaded anywhere?

No. Fair Wheel Picker runs entirely in your browser. Entries are kept in your browser storage on this device only, and shared links carry the wheel inside the part of the URL after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server.

    Is the result really random?

Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator before the animation starts, and every slice has exactly the same chance. The spin animation simply lands on the slice that was picked.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is completely free and there is no sign-up. Open the page, type your entries and spin. Your wheel is remembered on this device for next time.

How many teams can I make?

From 2 to 20 teams. People are dealt round-robin, so team sizes differ by at most one.

    Can I rename the teams?

Yes. Edit the entries in the Team picker preset to any names you like, such as house names or colours.
