How the yes or no wheel works
The wheel starts with two equal slices, Yes and No. Click the wheel or press Space to spin. Each answer has exactly a 50% chance, decided by a secure random number before the wheel moves.
Want a third option? Choose Yes / No / Maybe from the preset menu, or type any answers you like, such as Definitely, Not today or Ask again.
When to use a yes or no spinner
Use it for low-stakes decisions: should we order takeout, should I go for a run, should we watch one more episode. It is also a popular party game and a quick classroom activity for practising questions and answers.
For anything important, use it as a nudge rather than a verdict. Many people find that the answer they hope for while the wheel spins tells them what they really want.
Make it a game
Add sound and confetti, put it in Event mode on the TV, and take turns asking questions. Share the wheel with a link so friends can spin along on their phones.
Customise your answers
Change the title to your question, pick a theme and set the spin time. Add an answer twice to make it more likely, for example two Yes slices and one No for a 2-in-3 chance.
Private by design
Fair Wheel Picker is a static web page. The wheel, the random pick, the sound and the confetti all run in your browser. There is no account, no database and no upload. Your entries and history are stored in your browser's local storage so they are still there next time, and you can wipe them at any time by clearing the entries and history.
Frequently asked questions
Are my entries uploaded anywhere?
No. Fair Wheel Picker runs entirely in your browser. Entries are kept in your browser storage on this device only, and shared links carry the wheel inside the part of the URL after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server.
Is the result really random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator before the animation starts, and every slice has exactly the same chance. The spin animation simply lands on the slice that was picked.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is completely free and there is no sign-up. Open the page, type your entries and spin. Your wheel is remembered on this device for next time.
Is yes or no really 50/50?
Yes. With one Yes and one No slice, each comes up half the time on average. Short runs can still repeat, just like flipping a coin.
Can I add Maybe?
Yes. Load the Yes / No / Maybe preset or type Maybe on a new line.
Can I type my question on the wheel?
Yes. Put your question in the Wheel title field and it is shown above the wheel and in Event mode.
